Adrian Belew

Born in 1949 in Covington, adrian Belew's first love was the drums.

Soon after listening to the Beatles, Belew decided to ditch the kit and pick up the guitar, taking no lessons and teaching himself to play the classics. An amazingly underrated musician, Belew has played with many mainstream bands such as Frank Zappa, David Bowie and King Crimson, being the main writting force and all round quirky riff master in these and more. With an original sound whether playing rock, pop, funk or soul, his early influences were The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, B.B King, Robert Johnson and honed his skills in the early 60's and 70's. After playing in many bands, Belew later joined with Robert Fripp of King Crimson and continued to release classic pieces with them, and also following a solo career during the 90's on the side. Expect to hear more amazing songs from this musician (not many guitarists can make a guitar sound like an Elephant!) in the near future, one not to miss.

"That has always been my approach; to try and stretch the possibilities of the guitar."
