Dimebag Darrell Abbott

Where do we start with Dimebag? we could start off with where he was born, what his influences were, or the fact that when Dime was a youngster entering guitar competions, he was banned from most of them because he was TOO GOOD!

Yup thats true, Born Darrell Lance Abbott in 1966 Texas, Dimebag picked up the guitar at age 16 and learned the greats from Sabbath, Slayer, Megadeth, Motorhead and all the good stuff of the 70's and 80's. The riff master behind Pantera and Damageplan, both with brother and drummer Vinnie Paul, Dimebag brought not only a brutal sound to our ears like 'F***ing Hostile', to 'I'll Cast a Shadow', but a depth and beauty behind the chaos which can be found on 'Suicide Not Pt 1' and the ending lead to 'Floods'. Best known for his down to earth and warm friendly manner towards his friends and fans, Dimebag became a much loved guitarist in the metal world, with or without the Black Tooth Grin, a drink made by from a full glass of whiskey and a drop of Cola! Dimebags definning sound were the pinch harmonics executed with all the venom of a rattle snake, and also with the use of his favorite pedal, the Digitech Whammy. One of the greatest guitarist that have ever graced the earth, Dime gave us so much with his music and took so little, what else can be said about him and how best to end this artical? With a simple thank you.

"When I tried to play something and screwed up, I'd hear some other note that would come into play. Then I started trying different things to find the beauty in it. "
